9 MB Labor Leaders Detained Including Atef El-Samry

Last Sunday night, Egyptian security forces detained nine MB labor leaders while they gathering in the house of one of them in the city of Bahteem, Shubra El-Kheima in Qalyubiyya.

The detainees include:  Atef El-Samry, an accountant and Member of the Supreme Council of the Commerce Syndicate, Mohamed Yusuf Ahmed, a trader and owner of the house, and Hussein Khaled Hussein, Former Head of the Applied Professions Syndicate in Qalyubiyya.  The detainees are to be presented before prosecutors at a later time today.

It is mentioned that this group’s detention took place hours before the launch of the April 6th strike called for by the Egyptian political, labor, and syndicate forces including the MB in response to the static political state and tightening of the scope of liberties in Egypt.
