Doctors To Go on Strike Today, April 9

The Doctors Syndicate resumed its preparation for the strike endorsed by the General Assembly on March 27, 2009 by closing all private clinics on April 9 in protest against the Finance Ministry’s procrastination to recognize the staff, bonuses, and allowances.

The Doctors Syndicate in Cairo also sent out a record of all the names and addresses of the private and charity clinics and public and university hospitals that would remain open during the strike.

In a letter sent to the syndicate’s head Dr. Hamdy El-Sayyid, Dr. Sa’d Zaghloul, Secretary General of the Cairo syndicate clarified that arrangements were made with doctors of different specializations who own clinics in Cairo and Helwan to ensure that all forms of medical services were available to the people on the day of the strike.
