Russia has asserted the importance of maintaining dialog with the Hamas Movement and ruled out the possibility of eliminating it militarily especially after failure of that option in the latest Israeli war on Gaza.

Alexander Sultanov, the special Russian president"s envoy to the Middle East, told a press conference on Wednesday that Moscow will maintain dialog with Hamas despite the fact that some of "our partners say that it is unrealistic".

He said that the only option in dealing with Hamas is dialog especially after restoring Palestinian unity on the basis of supporting the Arab peace initiative.

Asked on the Moscow conference on Middle East peace, Sultanov said that Russia did not cease preparations for the conference but he said that appropriate circumstances should be created so that the conference would end up with "tangible results".
