Former Kifaya Coordinator George Ishak Reportedly Arrested

Sources inside Kifaya Movement (a political movement opposing the Egyptian regime) reported that George Ishak, the former general coordinator of the Movement, is missing.
The sources attributed his disappearance to the sweeps of arrests that the Egyptian security forces are maintaining against the political opposition to pass the constitutional amendments in the referendum scheduled to be held on Monday.

George Ishak, the current deputy coordinator of the Kifaya Movement, was expected to be in Port Said on Saturday at noon but his mobile was shut down suddenly and no further information is known about him until now.

There were several phone calls to his brothers in Port Said to know any information about him but no one knows anything about him.

For his part, Kamal Khalil, a leader in the Kifaya Movement said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that George Ishak is still missing and there were several attempts to find him but in vain.

Khalil confirmed that George Ishak must have been detained by the Egyptian State Security Police in an attempt to exercise pressures on Kifaya Movement to prevent any demonstrations opposing the constitutional amendments.

Khalil added that the movement did not receive any contact from security authorities to negotiate with it on releasing Ishak.

The Kifaya leader confirmed that the movement will continue its attitude opposing the constitutional amendments and won’t be intimidated by arresting the movement leaders.

Khalil expected that the sweeps of arrests against political activists may continue to prevent them from demonstrating on Monday.
