Prisoners’ club: Hadarim slashes bread ration to Palestinian prisoners

The Israeli prison authority (IPA) in Hadarim has reduced by two thirds the ration of bread provided for the Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian prisoners” club said on Tuesday.

The club quoted prisoner Sidki Tamimi, who is serving a 35-year sentence, as saying that the jailers were supplying one loaf of bread for three prisoners while it used to supply one loaf for each prisoner.

Another prisoner Salama Mar”ee, who has been held in Israeli jails for 17 years, said that the IPA claimed that it would increase the ration of vegetables and fruits in compensation for the reduction in bread, but it did not.

More than 11,000 Palestinian prisoners are held in various Israeli prisons under harsh incarceration conditions and collective punishment. Many of them suffer diseases and worsening health conditions with negligible medical treatment on the part of the IPA.
