Khudari: Israel is lying about its intention to allow cement into Gaza

MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, on Tuesday affirmed that the news reports about an Israeli intention to allow quantities of cement into the Gaza Strip are mere statements aimed at burnishing the image of Israel.

In a press release, Khudari said that these Israeli statements are attempts to misguide the world public opinion and all international appeals demanding an end to the blockade on Gaza.

The lawmaker underlined that Gaza is still under tight blockade and Israel prevents the entry of 4,000 different items through the crossings under false pretenses and allows in the passage of only 80 items.

He warned of an Israeli plan to use the Karam Abu Salem crossing that is not wide enough for the reception of large shipments of cement in order to slow down the reconstruction efforts in Gaza and to portray that Israel responds to international demands for alleviating the suffering of Gaza people.

The lawmaker emphasized that Gaza needs international intervention to pressure Israel into allowing in building materials that will contribute to the rebuilding of what was destroyed during the war.
