Day two of nominations began eerily quiet as MB members attempted to hand in applications.

For the second consecutive day security insurgencies in a number of Egyptian governorates, continued against opposition candidates where police and secret agents prevented a number of candidates from accessing the committees to submit applications for nomination for the upcoming Shura elections.  Muslim Brotherhood, MP Ali Laban, from the Gharbeya government, intervened and called the Head of Security to clear the situation and that he, as a member of the Parliament, has the right to monitor the electoral process. However, the Head of Security refused and insisted on keeping the present situation as it is, amid the swelling number of security forces, security vehicles and thugs lined up around the committee to prevent any candidate from submitting their papers.

In Kafr el-Sheikh governorate, the nomination of Ossama Al-Husseini shadowed the electoral scene and many leaders of the NDP party expressed their discomfort, stressing that he was the reason behind the troubles in the electoral circle where he tilted the game in favor of MB in Disuq, Foa, and Motubas. One of the leaders of the party’s secretariat told Ikhwanweb that the NDP have contemplated, nominating another candidate to be able to face Al-Husseini who was widely popular there.
