MB Shura candidate challenges NDP opposition

The Muslim Brotherhood nominee for Disuq, Foa and Motubas appealed to the Commission to examine the applications asserting that there were numerous violations to the Political Rights Law

Husseini ascertained, that Disuq’s Misdemeanor Appeal Court had ordered a 3 year jail sentence to his rival in 2004, following financial differences. He claimed that according to law her nomination is not valid since there is a 3 year prison sentence for Tablawy which has not been served. The MB candidate highlighted that this was a breach to the law which stipulated that candidates have a clean record with no convictions to their name. He emphasized that Shura Council members were to represent the people arguing that it was imperative that representatives be honest and enter the council on legitimate grounds
