Tens of thousands participate in two marches in Gaza to mark the Nakba

GAZA, — Tens of thousands of Palestinian participated on Friday in two huge marches in the Gaza Strip to mark the 62nd anniversary of the nakba.

The first rally started after the Friday prayers from the Khulafa al-Rashideen Mosque in the Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. Tens of thousands of Gaza residents participated in the march in which participants carried Palestinian flags and placards bearing the names of the villages (in 1948-occupied Palestine) which the refugees originated from before they became refugees in 1948.

The participants marched the streets of the refugee camp and chanted slogans stressing their right to return to their homes and villages from which they were uprooted 62 years ago.

The march was headed by a number of Hamas leaders and old refugees who still carry the keys to their homes and the title deeds to their lands in 1948-occupied lands.

In the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, thousands of people participated in a similar march to mark to 62nd anniversary of the Nakba.

Participants in the march stressed their right to return to their villages and homes and their rejection of all schemes that aim to resettle refugees in their host countries and their condemnation of the PA’s return to negotiations.
