UN to distribute Freedom Flotilla aid in Gaza

NEW YORK, — Robert Serry, the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, announced on Tuesday that the UN had agreed to take hold of the aid shipment carried by the Freedom Flotilla.

He told the UN Security Council that the shipment, currently detained by Israel after its attack on the Flotilla, would head to its destination: the Gaza Strip.

The UN envoy said that the international organization had agreed exceptionally to distribute the aid to the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The UN obtained the approval of Israel and owners of the shipment carried in three Turkish ships to that step, Serry underlined.
