OCCUPIED JERUSALEM,  Local sources revealed the results of a recent bidding to build hundreds of “settlement” units for new Israeli projects in the Neve Ya'akov and Pisgat Ze'ev settlements north of Jerusalem.

Field researcher Ahmad Sub Laban of the Ir Amim foundation said in a statement on Tuesday that, according to the winning bid, 309 settlement units will be built in the valley between Neve Ya'akov and Pisgat Ze'ev, as well as another bid for 24 settlement units in Pisgat Ze'ev itself.

He pointed out that the so-called Committee for Planning and Construction ratified the Neve Ya’akov plan (no. 6513) earlier this year just before the announcement of the bids by the Israeli Ministry of Housing, which is responsible for the new construction project.

He added that the housing units in Neve Ya’akov are expected to be completely built within the next two years, as indicated by the Robin Landsman company, which is one of the companies that won the bid. The company is scheduled to build 78 settlement units on a flat ground of 7.7 acres, according to its winning bid.

He said: “According to information provided to us and according to the company, most of the units have been previously sold to the public.”

Two companies will collaborate with the Landsman company to build 309 settlement units in Neve Ya’akov, in addition to two other companies which will build 24 units in Pisgat Ze'ev.
