The number of signatures collected by the Muslim Brotherhood's online petition for political reform has reached nearly 250, 000 only 20 days into the campaign. The campaign initiated by the groups chairman Dr. Mohamed Badie has won global attention in the press as an indication of the group's sophisticated and peaceful manners in their call for change

Many of the nation's scholars have participated in the campaign calling on the masses to join in the call for reform to salvage the country from corruption describing it as an Islamic duty.

Dr. Mohammad Raafat Othman a member of the Islamic Research Academy claimed that the current regime has exchanged the scales of justice with corruption, defying the traditional teachings of the Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him), which instruct that all people are equal

Mabrouk Atia a professor at the Azhar University maintained that the 7 demands for reform are a legitimate right of the people and Islam rejects all forms of fraud in particular the will of the people during elections.
