Egypt :Arresting 15 for Distributing Flyers Calling for Reform And Democracy

The citizens were arrested for allegations that these demands “threat public peace and security”. On the other hand , the government lauds publications advocating for nominating the president’s son for presidential elections of 2011.

Although the publications for which the citizens were arrested have fair demands agreed upon by all callers for reform and democracy in Egypt, such as ending emergency state , election monitoring by judiciary and allowing Egypt abroad to vote and other demands, security arrested those citizens while welcomed the act of the other citizens who posted publications calling to vote for  the president’s son for presidency , which is a blatant double standard practice and a police prejudice to one party against another.

The Arabic Network said, “Shame on the government to arrest citizen for expressing themselves publicly and peacefully. The government should welcome reform and democracy callers in the same manner it welcomes supporters of the president’s son. Reform and democracy is for the best of all not for the favor of  an individual or a group”.
