  In an interview with Mary Wald Founder of TheCommunity.com former IAEA Chief Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei was asked about some of the heated rhetoric aimed his way and he was not hesitant in defending the Muslim Brotherhood movement and clarifying their involvement in his agenda for political reform and constitutional amendments.


ElBaradei addressed numerous issues concerning Egypt and his recent emergence onto the political scene maintaining that his work for democratic reform arises as a result of the deteriorating level his country has resulted in.

ElBaradei outlined his call for political reform and has highlighted that political opposition have begun to work collectively calling for change which Egypt so desperately needs. His numerous meetings with Egypt's most popular political opposition the Muslim Brotherhood has left him praising and commending the group which enjoys much support on the Egyptian street as a result of their honesty and down to earth commitments to Egypt and its people.

ElBaradei asserted that change was necessary and respecting and promoting freedom of speech was definitely the way to reach the goal. He warned of the continued repression by regimes asserting that it could lead to extremism.
