OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, More than 130 thousand worshipers from Jerusalem, 1948 occupied Palestine and elderly people from the West Bank attended the Friday prayers at the Aqsa Mosque on the first Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan, according to a statement issued by the Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage.

The foundation said in its statement that this number was achieved at a time when the Israeli  occupation beefed up military presence occupied Jerusalem, setup roadblocks and deployed thousands of soldiers in and around the old city.

The Aqsa Mosque witnessed an increased number of worshipers attending the Fajr (dawn) prayers as well as Thursday night prayers.

The foundation said that there were worshipers inside the buildings of  the Aqsa mosque, in its yards, under the trees and under umbrellas put up by the Awqaf.

Some of the mosque's gates witnessed confrontations between Palestinian youth trying to reach the mosque and Israeli occupation soldiers stopping them from entering the mosque as only those over 50 years of age from the West Bank are allowed to enter the Aqsa Mosque.
