GAZA, - The Israeli Jalbou prison administration have placed prisoner Jihad Mohammed Shukri Yaghmur in solitary confinement for filing a complaint against prison guards, said the supreme national committee in aid of captives in Palestine Saturday.

“The prison administration has isolated Yaghmur in solitary confinement only for filing a complaint to the Israeli court against policewomen who humiliated and deliberately harassed him,” committee director Riyadh Al Ashkar said.

Yaghmur has for two months been denied visits, and he has been banned from buying canteen items, going outdoors for recreation, and using electronic devices.

Yaghmur suffers from shortness of breath, his condition worsening in closed areas. Ashkar said his transfer to isolation would be detrimental to his crumbling health condition.

Yaghmur, who is one of the most prominent Hamas leaders in captivity, has been in Israeli detention for more than 16 years, serving a life sentence in addition to 30 years. He was arrested in October 1994 on charges of involvement in the capture of Israeli soldier Nachshon Wachsman in 1992.
