Israel's occupation forces have raided the home of a member of the Palestinian parliament and former Minister of Finance. Local eyewitnesses say that Israeli soldiers broke into the house of Dr Omar Abdul Raziq in the West Bank district of Salfit at 1.30am on Tuesday 11th January and took him to an unknown destination. The sources added that the Israelis vandalised Dr Abdul Raziq's home and library and confiscated his computers, personal documents and mobile telephone.

Dr. Abdul Raziq's detention brings to twelve the number of Palestinian MPs being held in Israeli custody, often without charge. In the past three months, a number of parliamentarians have been detained, including Naif Al Rajoub, Khalil Al Al Rabe'e and Mahmoud Al Ramahi. Their only apparent "crime" is that they were elected by the Palestinian people in an open and fair election as representatives of Hamas.
