Egypt witnessed an Egyptian man setting himself on fire outside the country's parliament, in an apparent protest imitating the self-immolation of the unemployed Tunisian who triggered the popular uprising and consequent ousting of the tyrant Dictator Ben Ali.

Passing motorists used fire extinguishers to put out the blaze which engulfed the man who was taken to the hospital with light burns, mostly to his face, neck and legs.

Abdo Abdel-Moneim Hamada, the 48-year-old owner of a small restaurant from Qantara was protesting a government policy preventing restaurant owners from buying cheap subsidized bread after he was prevented from meeting Dr. Fathi Sorour PA speaker to submit his complaint.
