The Egyptian Government Should Reveal The Fate Of Wael Ghoneim

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information expressed deep concern over the disappearance of the Egyptian citizen Wael Ghoneim, regional marketing manager of Google American group in the Middle East and Africa . Wael disappeared on Thursday, January 27th , 2011.

On 1/2/2011 ,Google Internet Group has appealed for help to find Wael Ghoneim who has been missing about ten days ago , however Egyptian security as usual chose to keep silent .

Prior to his disappearance ,Wael Ghoneim wrote on Facebook and Twitter about his intention to participate in the pro-democracy demonstrations on Jan 25th . He was calling for participation till the internet service was disabled in Egypt.

The Arabic Network said, “Wael Ghoneim, like many young Egyptians, who marched on to express their need for democracy was not a member of any political party or group. His disappearance is display of oppression and tyranny, showing how the Egyptian regime deals with young people demanding democracy”.

“Despite media and human rights organizations claims to quickly reveal the fate of the Egyptian citizen Wael Ghoneim, who did not commit any crime, our experience makes us believe that Wael may be abducted and detained at State Security Investigation headquarters in Nasr City in Cairo, a building where SSI used to detain the abductees and deny their presence “,The Arabic Network added .
