Considered a catalyst of Egypt’s Revolution Khaled Saeed a torture victim of Egypt’s former interior ministry will be remembered as Egyptian activists plan anti-torture protests next week in his commemoration.

Saeed’s death triggered popular outrage across Egypt when pictures of him, grotesquely beaten, circulated throughout social media sites after his death on 6 June, 2010.

Activists issued a statement saying they would protest on Monday, 6 June, in front of Cairo and Alexandria police stations to denounce police torture.

Although a year has passed, no convictions have been made in Saeed's death and Alexandria’s criminal court postponed the case to 30 June against the two policemen, said to be responsible for the death.
