Former NDP Leader Establishes New Party
Hossam Badrawy former Secretary General of the dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP), has filed an application seeking to form a new political party called The Union (Itihad) Party joining the list of former NDP members hoping to establish new parties.

According to Badrawy, the prospective party’s policy will support the principles of a civil and democratic state, and a gradual transition of power based on free elections. “The party is to promote and respect the freedom of expression and the rights of equality among citizens regardless of ideologies”, he stated.

Remnants of the ousted ruling regime have succeeded in establishing other political parties including the Bedaya Party, which became officially recognised earlier this week. The Egyptian Citizen Party, also consisting of former regime figures has also  been formed and consists of approximately 14 thousand former ruling party members nationwide. Members including Dr. Sherif Omar, Dr. Hamdy Alsayed, Dr. Mustafa AlSaeed, Dr. Mohamed Ragab, and Ahmed Abo Hagy, who along with Nashaat Assas and Ragab Halal incited the killing and shootings of peaceful protestors during the January Revolution have also signed up with the party along with former Parliamentarians.
