Chairman of the Higher Election Commission (HEC), Chancellor Abdul Moez Ibrahim, announced the nomination and registration of candidates for the election to the upper and lower houses of Parliament will start on October 12th, and will continue through to October 18th.

Ibrahim told MENA news agency that any complaints concerning the party or individual lists are to be submitted from October 19th through to the 21st. Preparations for the parliamentary elections candidate list will begin as of October 26, while ballot cards will be printed on Sunday November 13. Cards will be distributed to the subsidiary constituencies in governorates, in preparation for the first round of elections that starts on November 28.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Yousry Abdul Kareem, the chairperson of the HEC's technical office and member of its General Secretariat, stated that that the results of the party lists will be announced at the end of the run-off for the third phase of the parliamentary elections.

“The delay is to ensure the winning party receives the allotted 0.5% necessary to win membership on the Assembly,” he explained.

He added that the results of the winners on the individual-list will be announced after each of the three electoral and round-off phases, unlike the conditions for the party-lists.
