In a forum held by the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) for its newly elected parliamentarians, the party’s chairman Dr. Mohamed Morsi addressed the audience which included sixty-five MP’s from the first phase.

Morsi commended the Egyptian people for the high turnout saying “Thanks to the people and their turnout during the elections the first democratic experience proved to be a great success”. He called on the party’s elected MPs to work on serving the nation and accomplishing the people’s demands.

Morsi stated that the MPs have their work cut out for them and that it was imperative that each and every one of them work towards developing and rebuilding Egypt and restoring Egypt’s worthy status among the people and the world.

For his part the FJP’s Secretary General, Dr. Saad Katatny, paid tribute to the revolution’s victims. He called on the MPs to remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the January Revolution in addition to the thousands of Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members who were killed, tortured and detained in jails over the last 80 years simply for calling for reform and freedom against a corrupt regime.

He emphasized that the FJP’s MPs must not work alone. “We must cooperate and coordinate with all parties and it is impossible for the nation to progress if each faction chooses to work individually”, he added.

Workshops and training programmes were organized by the forum for the MPs to prepare them for their role and direct them on how to address the problems and to interact with the people both in parliament and on the street.

FJP Viice Chairman Dr. Essam el Erian attended the forum along with party leaders, Dr. Ahmed Suleiman, Ossama Yassin and Dr. Saad Husseini from the party’s executive bureau.
