Muslim Brotherhood (MB) lawyer and head of the Egyptian Lawyer’s Freedom Committee, Gamal Tag el Deen stated that any delay of investigations and trials of those accused of killing and wounding protestors will only anger Egyptians causing escalations and further strife.

The Alexandria Criminal Court postponed amidst objections the hearing of such court cases to March 2012, in addition to the hearing of Sayed Bilal, tortured and killed by state security personnel after being accused of being involved in the Qeddesinne Church bombings in Alexandria. The hearing of the ousted Mubarak and his cronies including the former Interior Minister Habib el Adly was also postponed to the 26th of next month.

Speaking to Ikhwanweb, Tag el Deen said: “It is apparent that the judiciary is preoccupied with supervising over the parliamentary elections. However this is unacceptable since it will only infuriate the people further since the delay may continue till after the presidential elections”.

He called for the assigning of a division to document the trials and engage in hearing and investigating the incidents away from the electoral process in an effort to get closure. He asked, “How is it that so far the revolutionaries and the families of victims have not had their cases heard, and who is benefiting from the delay?”
