Beltagy: We Will Take to Tahrir on Jan 25 to Commemorate Revolution and Demand Full Power Handover to Civilians

Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, member of the Freedom and Justice Party’s (FJP) Executive Bureau and FJP Secretary General in Cairo explained that he will take to Tahrir square next January 25 for four main reasons.

In a press statement Beltagy said, "I will take to the square in commemoration of the day the Egyptians abandoned their apathy and rose in objection to the decades of suppression; the day Egyptians were reborn. I will also demonstrate my full loyalty to the martyrs and victims of the revolution which is still in progress and will continue to call for their demands until they are met; after all they sacrificed their lives for this. We will also celebrate our accomplishments so far including the removal of the corrupt leaders of the former ousted regime, and the beginning of a new free and transparent parliamentary session which will continue towards achieving the revolution’s goals".

He added that the party will also support the continued demands which call for the presidential elections to take place in order to achieve the smooth and final transition of power from SCAF to a civilly elected authority. Furthermore, Beltagy added, FJP will continue opposing any interference from any body or faction over the elected parliament assembly or president.
