Final Results of People’s Assembly Elections, FJP Press Release #54

The High Judicial Elections Commission (HJEC) has announced the final results for the Egyptian People’s Assembly elections, which lasted 55 days and witnessed outstanding, positive participation by the Egyptian people, who bravely challenged and overcome all the obstacles and difficulties that aimed to disrupt their march and hijack their choice of democracy as the beginning of the path of peaceful transition of power in Egypt.

According to HJEC final results, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) – together with the Democratic Alliance – won 235 out of 498 total seats, i.e. 47.2% of the total seats in parliament: 127 seats in the party ‘lists’ and 108 for the ‘individual’ seats.

The FJP stated that this Parliament, which will begin its first session on the 23rd of January 2012 is the best celebration of the Egyptian Revolution, which is approaching its first anniversary, and which has achieved some of its goals and demands and is still waiting to achieve more. Those achievements could not have seen the light but for the precious blood and the precious lives sacrificed by the martyrs and the wounded, who were the real spark that ignited the great Egyptian revolution. They have all our thanks and appreciation and loyalty.

The FJP believes that Egypt’s progress and rejuvenation requires the participation of all citizens in shouldering this great responsibility, which needs all to work selflessly for this homeland, putting the public interest of Egypt and its citizens above their own personal interests.
