FJP Women’s Committee Raises Breast Cancer Awareness

In its initiative to raise women’s health awareness, the Women’s Committee of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) in Egypt’s seaport city Alexandria continued its campaign under the banner ‘Protect yourself from Breast Cancer’. A conference for women, which was held at the FJP’s headquarters in the Seyouf district, witnessed a large turnout of residents and members of the FJP.

According to Dr. Noha Hamdoon, who led the campaign in East Alexandria, breast cancer was the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths claiming approximately 180 thousand lives annually.

She explained that the risk factors for breast cancer were attributed to the use of hormones, in addition to certain hereditary reasons. She added that radiotherapy, obesity and poor eating habits, could also lead to breast cancer, pointing that particular attention must be paid to changes in the shape or texture of the breast tissue.
