In a statement, the Syrian National Council (SNC) said, "The heinous and horrendous crime that Assad regime’s criminal forces committed in cold blood in Karm El-Zaitoun and Adawiya in Homs, Sunday (March, 11), which claimed the lives of over fifty women and children, so far, and other similar crimes committed in most parts of the city, provide further evidence that this regime and its leaders, officials and forces are brutal criminals of war, and who should soon be held accountable for all their bloody murders at the International Criminal Court where they certainly belong".

Moreover, the SNC called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations to organize urgent and effective international action, in addition to the adoption of all necessary Security Council action to stop the extermination of the Syrian people in, including urgent and decisive intervention to stop and deter the bloody regime by all means available, to prevent Assad from using his machine of mass murder, rape and total destruction.

Further, the SNC said that it was communicating with all relevant organizations, bodies and friendly countries in order, calling for an urgent session of the UN Security Council, seeking speedy assistance and support by all means required for the Syrian people to defend themselves, pleading with the international community to intervene to protect Syrian civilians who are being slaughtered by the regime in continuous waves of wanton murder, mayhem and destruction never witnessed anywhere in the world for decades.

The SNC stressed that the countries that support the criminal regime share the responsibility for his crimes, calling for support for Syrian people. It also called for an immediate halt to the bloody genocide and executions of innocent civilians, and for quickly setting up safe areas for the protection of civilians, especially the badly-hit Syrian city of Homs.
