Azza Al-Garf: Freedom and Justice Party Prepares Women for Forthcoming Parliamentary Poll

Dr. Azza Al-Garf, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leader, said the party is organizing workshops to prepare FJP women to contest the upcoming elections and general political participation.

"The parliamentary race is an important step in the building of new democratic Egypt, because the new House of Representatives will have vital duties and several important legislations to debate and pass.

"All parties must be aware of the important role of women in the next phase of democratic transformation in Egypt. They must put forth on their candidate lists women capable of convincing the people in the street. Such women will certainly be an advantage for each candidate list they are placed on."

Dr. Al-Garf affirmed that the Constituent Assembly, which drafted Egypt’s new Constitution, rejected the quota system for women.

“The quota system is a form of discrimination, while citizenship is the proper foundation.

"Women will convince the people and win their confidence through hard work, societal service and great efficiency."
