Dr. Ahmed Aref, Muslim Brotherhood media spokesman, said the attack against protesters outside the Republican Guard compound can only be described as mindless total genocide, while Gihad Al-Haddad, Muslim Brotherhood media spokesman, placed the responsibility for the heinous attack fully on the army.

Dr. Essam El-Erian, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Vice-Chairman, said: "The fascist coup government has committed an outright massacre of peaceful pro-Morsi, pro-democracy protesters during dawn prayers, with army bullets after thugs failed to do the job.

"The Egyptian army and soldiers, who were proud to say they never did and will never do shoot their own people, must have among their ranks wise leaders who will stop this madness."

A duty doctor at Rabaa Al-Adaweya Hospital, which is still receiving wounded protesters and martyrs from the scene of the merciless massacre, said that the number of martyrs is more than 53 and the injured are over 1000 and likely to increase as more cases arrive.
