Egypt Pro-Democracy Alliance Calls ‘Patience Path To Victory’ Week of Peaceful Protest

Huge masses of the Egyptian people all over the country turned out, defying threats of violent attacks, humiliation, injury, detention, fines and even murder that have just been supported by the new law curbing the people’s right to peaceful assembly and demonstration.

Certainly, demonstrations continued without pause, even during the first days of the Islamic Calendar Holy month of Zul-Hijja. They continued through the Eid under the slogan "Eid of the Martyr", culminating in Friday’s protests.

Revolutionaries continued to follow the strategy of protesting on inner streets before meeting on main ones, which minimizes casualties at the hands of coup forces, and which confuses coup commanders and collaborators.

In spite of certain clashes and attacks on peaceful marches, as happened on Faisal Street in Giza and in Port Said, patriotic revolutionaries and the great Egyptian people were not intimidated. They protested in numbers that doubled the putschists’ puzzlement. This embodies the failure of the coup to break the will of the crowds resisting it.

The Anti-Coup, Pro-Legitimacy Alliance hails the steadfastness of the revolutionaries and the free Egyptian people, and urges all patriotic Egyptians to continue to demonstrate peacefully, expressing their rejection of the coup, on a whole week under the banner: "Patience is the Path to Victory".

The Alliance reaffirms that all protesters must continue to commit to peaceful and innovative methods. We are confident that Egyptian youths, alert and brave, will excel with new creative ideas of peaceful defiance.

God is Great… Long live Egypt.

Victory is for those who persist and remain steadfast, endeavoring for that which is right.
