Anti-Coup National Alliance Calls ‘Trial of Popular Will’ Week of Peaceful Protest Activities
Egypt’s anti-coup coalition of parties, groups and movements defending democracy and electoral legitimacy calls President’s Steadfastness day of peaceful protest activities Monday November 4.

The shocking crimes and scandals of the coup commanders and collaborators, led by General Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, have become even more revolting, and still they insist on the violation of rights and freedoms as their best strategy and chosen approach. The first elected civilian President in the country's history is still held hostage. No-one knows where he is detained. He is deprived of the most basic of human rights. Even if he is accused of a crime, where are his legal rights?

Where is the honorable judiciary, human rights organizations and advocates of freedom who ferociously attacked President Mohamed Morsi’s regime for a whole year? How can the chivalrous judiciary allow the investigating judge to question President Morsi in his place of detention, and without any legal defense or representation?

This is clearly inconsistent with the most basic rights of any accused person, let alone the legitimate President who was abducted from his presidential palace. Worse still, the judge is driven blindfolded to an unknown location to do his duty. Where is all the talk about the sanctity and independence of the judiciary? Perhaps the sanctity and holiness of the coup is more important than all this?

How absurd that all these violations are committed against the President against whom they failed to prove even one case of corruption! In the meantime, the president who corrupted life in Egypt at all levels is free, hailed and praised in certain programs on dubious TV channels by questionable individuals.

Paradoxically, the putschists accuse the country’s legitimate President of alleged crimes that are now being committed by the interior minister and the defense minister. Under the military putschists, the criminals hold the President supposedly on trial for a crime they themselves have committed.

What the putschists wanted the most from this trial was to break the people's will, their determination to continue the Revolution. They are taking revenge on January 25 revolutionaries, in order to reincarnate the Mubarak regime and reinstate military rule. They have lost their senses, baffled at the resolute steadfastness and resilience of President Morsi. They further lost their minds, stunned by the sheer persistence of anti-coup protesters despite all the brutal killings and vicious arrests.

The Egyptian Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance assures the whole world that the patriotic people of this homeland will never be broken by all these repressive practices, and will not relent, rest or sleep until the coup is fully defeated.

The Alliance holds the coup leaders fully responsible for all violations of the rights of the legitimate President Mohamed Morsi. It calls on the masses of the free proud Egyptian people to rally in all liberty squares across the nation in protest at these false trials of Egypt’s legitimate elected President and his fellow ‘defendants’, starting Friday November 1 – for a "Trial of Popular Will" week of peaceful protest activities – until Monday November 4, which should be "President’s Steadfastness" day.

The mass rally on Monday November 4, the “President’s Steadfastness” day, should be outside the building (Police Officers' Academy) in Tora. The pro-democracy coalition also calls the whole free world to demonstrate on this day in front of Egypt’s embassies and consulates. We will make this day an international day of protest. We will defeat this brutal traitorous military coup.
