Egypt National Alliance Meets with European Parliament Delegation Tuesday

A delegation representing the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance – which defends democracy and supports constitutional legitimacy and elected President Mohamed Morsi – met with a delegation from the European Union, representing the European Parliament, who arrived in Cairo Sunday evening, on a three-day visit during which they meet with a number of officials to discuss the latest developments of the situation in Egypt.

The meeting was held in a hotel in Cairo. The National Alliance was represented by Dr. Mohamed Ali Bishr, former Minister of Local Development (Muslim Brotherhood); and Amr Farouk, spokesman for the Wasat Party, while Dr. Mahmoud Taha, member of the Construction and Development Party (Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya) could not be there. On the other hand, a 6-strong delegation represented the European Parliament in that meeting.

Earlier, Magdy Salem, vice chairman of the Islamic Party and leading member of the National Alliance, said in statements to Anatolia News Agency that "the Alliance felt it was important to hold this meeting with the EU delegation, on Tuesday, so we can put forth our full vision with regard to the current crisis in Egypt".
