Anti-Coup Alliance Condemns Continued Forced Disappearance of Legitimate President

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance holds coup authorities fully responsible for the safety of the legitimate President Mohamed Morsi they abducted, warning that harming the President in any way will throw the whole nation in unchartered waters.

The Alliance expresses grave concern about the legitimate President’s health, the ongoing ban on visits by family and lawyers and the military-appointed authorities stopping him from appearing at the Police Academy headquarters Wednesday (where the second session of his farcical trial was scheduled to be held), and preventing some of the lawyers and families of detainees from entering the courtroom, without legal or logical justification.

The Alliance calls on all Egyptian revolutionaries to mass throughout the day, and prepare for revolutionary escalation according to developments on the ground. The Alliance also condemns excessive violence by coup forces against unarmed demonstrators in a number of cities and several districts in Cairo – in particular, Nasr City.

The Alliance further calls on all patriotic revolutionaries to stick to peaceful protest with ingenuity, devotion and steadfastness in the face of military coup brutal force and terror tactics.
