Students Against the Coup movement issued a statement condemning the ruling military junta's decision to postpone the start of the new academic semester at universities by a month.

The semester was due to start on 27 September (the day ousted president Mubarak is due to be sentenced), but – by military regime orders – will instead start in October 2014.

"Delaying the start of the academic year by a month is a desperate attempt by the military state to quell student revolt, but it shows the putschists' frustration and fear.

"Military rule is a failing system, a fumbling quivering regime... incapable of making decisions."

The statement pointed that the military regime does not care about students or any of this homeland's citizens as much as it cares about suppressing the Revolution by shrinking the academic year for university students.

"These steps taken by the military junta regime will not discourage students from continuing their forceful but peaceful defiance against the junta. Our Revolution continues, both within university campuses and in all liberty squares. All public squares belong to the students.
