Freedom and Justice Party Statement Regrets Egypt Bombing of Libya East Benghazi

In a statement, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said it follows with increasing concern news published in local and international media of Egyptian warplanes bombarding the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi in a military operation led by the military junta and its heinous traitorous commander Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi against Libyan revolutionaries, with the participation of ground troops belonging to the forces of the Libyan coup, by way of physical support for Libya’s counter-revolution and empowerment of traitors and the corrupt there.

In its statement, the FJP said: "The junta did not learn the lesson of history. When Egypt sent troops to the war in Yemen (1962-70), more than 15,000 Egyptian soldiers were killed there – according to official records. That war further negatively impacted the capabilities of the Egyptian army at the time, and contributed to Egypt’s defeat in the 1967 war against Israel.

"The military junta, led by the traitor Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi throw Egyptian army men and machines into a battle where the biggest loser is the Egyptian people, especially Egyptians working and living in Libya – numbering over 1.5 million."

The FJP warned of a scheme to transform the Egyptian army into a group of mercenaries, paid militias, ‘rented out’ by leaders of the July 3 military coup.

The FJP called on the Egyptian people to reject the reckless actions of the coup commander, which will exacerbate the homeland’s problems, after all the devastation and destruction it suffered since the military coup.

The FJP urged honorable intellectuals and activists to apply pressure through the media and on the ground to stop coup actions that conflict with the interests of the homeland and its national security.
