Muslim Brotherhood Spokesman: We Reject All Violence; Peaceful Protest is Our Strategic Choice

Mohamed Montaser, the Muslim Brotherhood’s media spokesman, said: "Our established position continues to be a total rejection of all acts of violence".

In a telephone interview with satellite TV channel "AlarabyTV", Montaser said: "Our Revolution is peaceful. It will remain peaceful".

Refuting claims of signed statements from supposed Muslim Brotherhood members confessing to committing acts of violence, Montaser said: "All these confessions are made under duress, under brutal torture in police stations".

Further, Montaser placed the responsibility on the coup regime for increased violence across Egypt, pointing that the illegitimate regime created a scene and an environment of chaos and brutality fit for groups that commit acts of violence, as coup authorities continue to kill Egyptians all over the country.

The Brotherhood’s spokesman denied any relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood and the so-called Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis (Supporters of Jerusalem) or Al-Iqab Al-Thawri (Revolutionary Punishment) or any other groups, pointing that the Brotherhood totally rejects the violent approach.
