Muslim Brotherhood Condemns New Laws Granting Egypt Military More Power, Judicial Immunity

A new crime committed by the military regime against Egypt and its people on the fifth anniversary of the coup, by granting more power to the military and protecting its generals by offering them more financial privileges at the expense of the Egyptian people.

The coup parliament on Tuesday passed a new law that provides judicial immunity to military coup leaders and military commanders by preventing them from being interrogated or taking any judicial action against them for their involvement in crimes against peaceful protestors who opposed the coup, or any other crimes during the constitutional moratorium. The new law also offers them more privileges by treating them as ministers and with more financial advantages in a country where corruption has become so deep.

These new laws complement the cycle of transforming Egypt into a military state in which members of the military are privileged, while ordinary citizens are at disadvantage suffering from the flames of prices, repression, deprivation and the collapse of basic services.

This criminal gang will not stop its retaliatory war against the Egyptian people unless it is confronted by the people themselves in a mass popular revolution that shakes its foundations, relieves Egypt from their burden, and brings down the just punishment they deserve.

We call on the free people of Egypt to unite, overcome the differences, and never lose hope in victory
