The authorities on October 7, 2006, prevented MB Senior Leader and Executive Bureau Member Mr. Goma’a Amin from travelling to Saudia Arabia to pay a visit to the Holy Shrines (Umrah), even after he had obtained all the proper documents and approvals.

Mr. Amin was surprised that his journey was cancelled, saying that the decision illustrates that Egypt lives under a totalitarian regime which can survive only by exceptional laws, asserting that the regime has suppressed freedoms of movement and" went as far as to restrict the freedom of worship and
religious rituals".

In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Mr. Amin expresses his surprise and disbelief of the decision, pointing  out that on his way to the airport, he was surprised by a security personnel who , while expressing his regret, informed him that he was banned from traveling and
that it is the powers that be which cancelled his journey.

The security personnel also informed Mr. Amin that he himself didn’t know the reasons behind that decision.
