The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt issued a statement on the recent train crash which claimed the lives of tens of people and the injury or hundreds others. The group said in its statement that before the Egyptian people recovered from the disaster of the passenger ship early this year, another disaster happened, followed as usual by the government seeking a scapegoat and ignoring the key reasons behind such disasters. The statement attributed this and other disasters to neglection, corruption and lack of accountability, besides the deterioration of public services. It warned that the continuation of this bad situation will lead to complete destruction of what is left of the country. It called for setting up a fact finding committee and that the investigations reach out to all officials in charge of this sector with the aim to recognize the disorders and weak points in this sector and seeking a radical solution to ensure the non recurrence of such accidents in the future. The group in its statement expressed its sympathy with the victims families, and called on all Egyptians to immediately offer humanitarian aid to the families of the dead and injured, citing the meager amount of reparations provided by the government to these disaster- hit families. It appeals to the entire Egyptian people to turn this disaster into an opportunity to show their mutual solidarity with the Egyptians in all their brackets.
