After deep crisis and internal ruptures in Israel entailed by the bitter defeat at the hands of Hizbullah fighters in south Lebanon, some Israeli thinkers start to blame Israel’s political leadership for the current crisis. "Israel’s problems weren’t spurred by Hizbullah Katyusha missiles, but it was indeed entailed by the failed political leadership in the state that will appear clearly in the coming days", said Israeli writer Itan Haper, former director of the late Israeli premier Yitzhak Rabin. "Leadership in Israel is over, at present there is no a single political or military leader in Israel who could satisfy dreams of the Israeli settlers. In the past, we have had a handful of leaders without any doubt of their leadership capabilities, but today we lack such leaders and this is indeed the source of our weakness", Haper added.
