In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, Dr. Ibrahim el Masry, said that the group fully backs Hizbullah’s position against Israeli occupation, and that MB and Hizbullah coordinate with each other in issues of common concern. On whether there are disagreements between the two groups, Dr. El Masry said that relations are sometimes lukewarm but efforts are underway to iron out any disagreements and reach a compromise in some matters. El Masry hailed as heroic the recent Hizbullah’s operation, saying it was a purely military one against occupying forces, adding that it gave a momentum to their Palestinian brothers.
On the military potentials of Hizbullah, el Masry said that the party possesses about 13000 long range rockets and that the Israeli air strikes on Beirut will not pass in impunity, as Hizbullah threatened to strike Haifa in case the Israelis strike at Beirut. El Masry expected that the Israelis will resort to negotiation with Hizbullah to exchange prisoners as was the case before.
On the position of the Lebanese people and political forces toward the issue of resistance, el Masry said that most of the Lebanese people and political forces back Hizbullah’s position in terms of resisting the Israeli occupation.
