Muslim Brotherhood Statement on Border Incident & Olmert Visit

Muslim Brotherhood Statement on Border Incident & Olmert Visit

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt issued today a statement in the aftermath of the border incident, which took place at the Egyptian Israeli border yesterday, June 2, 2006, in which two Egyptian policemen were killed by Israeli troops. The statement condemned the unjustified action by Israeli soldiers and criticized the Egyptian government passiveness concerning such repeated incidents

“Egypt is grieving  for the killing of two of its citizens on the Palestinian-Egyptian borders Friday June 2, 2006, at the hands of [Israeli] forces. This is not the first time Egyptian soldiers have been killed at the borders without any stern reaction by the Egyptian government to avenge for these martyrs and preserve the country’s dignity”

The statement also denounced a visit by Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert to Egypt and demanded cancellation of his visit in protest to the border incident and the siege imposed by Israel on Palestinians

“We denounce such ill-fated visit . . . and demand a thorough investigation into the killing of the two martyred soldies-Mohamed Sadek and Ayman Hamed- and bring to justice those criminal killers responsible for their death. We offer our condolences to the victims’ families and pray to God Almighty to accept them as martyrs”
