A prominent official of the Israeli ruling Kadima Party threatened that the prime minister-designated Ismael Hania will be targeted if Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, carries out attacks in Israel. The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth cited the ex-chief of the Israeli Intelligence saying. ’Haniah’s nomination gives him no immunity.’ ’For me, he (Hania) was and still will be a terrorist. In case of any terrorist act against Israel, Haniah himself will be a target if Israel decides to respond by a deliberate assassination since Hamas would not carry out an assault without the permission of its leadership’ added the official, a candidate for a top security post in the incoming Kadima government.

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces continued its military escalation against unarmed civilians. Three more Palestinians were killed yesterday bringing up the toll of dead to nine in Gaza Stripe during the last two days among them six of Al-Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fatah Party.

On another front, the EU anounced it is planning to release the frozen funds to Palestinians. The plan was discussed by the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and the Quartet of Mideast peace negotiators, comprising Russia, US, EU, and UN. It aims to funnel direct funds to the Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmud Abbas not to the incoming Hamas-led government. ’We have to find a mechanism to offer Mr. Abbas the funds to enable the PA to finance their projects and fulfill thier obligations, since he (Abbas) is the PA chairman and the llink between the PA and the international community,’ said Solana
