El-Sharqia: Sonic Bombs and Tear Gas Canisters

El-Sharqia: Sonic Bombs and Tear Gas Canisters

Since police besieged el-Sadat village of el-Sharqia, the home town of
the
Brotherhood’s nominee, and voters were kept out of polling stations,
monitoring judges staged a sit-in in el-Sadat School yard as a sign of
protest.

When bored barred voters pushed emphatically for being allowed to cast
votes, police opened fire in air to intimidate them. On the contrary,
clashes mounted between policemen and electorate so security forces
lobbed
more than 70 tear and sonic bombs to control the situation. As a
result
nine voters suffered from suffocation.

On the other side, some supervisory judges in Mashtol constituency
were
passive toward the police who barricaded voting.

On the other hand, a female supporter of the Brotherhood was assaulted
and
stripped off her veil by the backers of the National Democratic Party.
