Egypt: Appeal Against Referral to Military Tribunal Adjourned

The Egyptian State Council adjourned the appeal lodged by 33 MB leaders and more than 100 of their wives and underage children against the president”s decision of referring them to a military court, to April 17.
 
 
The Egyptian State Council adjourned hearing the appeal lodged by 33 Muslim Brotherhood leaders and more than 100 of their wives and underage children over the lawsuit they presented to the Constitutional Court to stop the president”s decision of referring them to a military court; the case was adjourned to session of April 17.
 
The State Council, beside Cairo Sheraton hotel, witnessed a heavy security presence and a huge number of Central Security Forces and thugs.

For his part, lawyer Mostafa Al Demeiri said that the Egyptian constitution stipulates that any citizen has the right to stand trial before his competent judge; the president”s decision of transferring civilians to a military court is a flagrant violation to the Egyptian constitution .
 
Asked about his expectations regarding the ruling of the State Council, Al Demeiri said that it is difficult to prediction any court ruling, specially under a regime that doesn”t respect court”s rulings and in a politically motivated case .
