Asyut University Students Demand Gaza Blockade Lifted

Muslim Brotherhood students in Asyut University held last Tuesday, Dec, 4th, 2007, a huge demonstration which included about 1000 students, in which they condemned the continuous closure of Rafah Border Crossing between Egypt and Gaza Strip. They also declared their rejection to the blockade which is still imposed on Gaza Strip, declaring their full support to Hamas movement”s rejection of the Annapolis conference held the week before.
The students released a statement during the demonstration, in which they outlined the injustices facing the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip sounding a wakeup call because the situation is very serious in the Strip. They also raised their eyebrows at the Arab and international silence towards the blockade imposed on Gaza , confirming that the Palestinian cause is not related only to the Palestinians but its is the cause of all Arabs and Muslims. They demanded all freemen to do something to lift the blockade through offering aid and participating in activities supporting this issue. They also called on the Egyptian government to support the Palestinian people”s interests and immediately open Rafah Crossing, and allow the stranded and ill ersons to cross it and to immediately supply Gaza Strip with gas and electricity .
The students ended their march with a vigil during which they held a phone call with Nizar Rayyan, a member of Hamas movement political bureau, during which he thanked the Muslim Brotherhood students for their positivity and confirmed that such positive steps are always expected from the MB. Rayyan stressed on the Palestinian constants and that resistance, not surrendering, is the only method to restore the usurped rights. A students gave the speech of the Muslim Brotherhood students in which he confirmed that such a demonstration is only one of the methods that young men and students should do for the Muslims” most prominent issue, Palestine . He reminded the students of their duty towards the issue. He called on them to donate money for the Palestinian people and to activate the campaign of boycotting US and Zionist products and to spread awareness about this issue among people.
