Azza Al-Garf: Parliament Should Initiate Dialogue With Revolutionary Youth
Azza Al-Garf, an MP for the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), stressed the importance for dialogue with the Egyptian Revolution’s youths, to discuss the repercussions of the Port Said massacre – which occurred after Ahly vs. Masry football match – and how to defend the revolution.
In a statement to Ikhwanweb, she said that the Committee on Defense and National Security at the People’s Assembly requested that a representative of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) should be summoned to Parliament to be questioned about the recent tragedy, among demands the most important of which is the dismissal of the Egyptian Public Prosecutor.
With regard to criticism of the role played by the Egyptian Parliament in these recent events, Azza Al-Garf said, "MPs are making a great effort; but there is confusion between the legislative and oversight roles of Parliament on the one side and the role of the executive authorities on the other. But still there is a fact-finding and investigation Committee formed by Parliament to monitor what happened, and will come out with important recommendations in this regard".
Azza Al-Garf added, "People’s Assembly MPs will not allow anyone to disgrace or dishonor Egypt or derail the revolution. And will not allow criminals to go unpunished".
