Badawi: President’s Decrees Made Immune for Loss of Confidence in Politicized Judiciary
Tharwat Badawi, constitutional expert and professor, said that President Mohamed Morsi’s Decrees Thursday put an end to a plot to totally destroy Egypt’s peace and stability. He asked all secular forces to realize that, at this critical post-revolution phase, Egypt cannot afford all the negative actions they are taking, including repeated demonstrations and strikes.
In a telephone call to Al-Jazeera Mubasher (Live)-Egypt satellite TV channel, Badawi said: “President Morsi’s success in the foreign affairs area increases our confidence that this man has a high level of expertise and patriotism.
"The President’s decision to make his Constitutional Declarations immune from appeal and legal wrangling is due to the fact that some individuals – supporters of the counter-revolution – still exert considerable influence within the judiciary, and also due to lack of confidence in decisions of the Constitutional Court, which – by being openly politicized and clearly going beyond its competence, has lost the impartiality essential for the judiciary. Morsi’s are wise decrees that give us hope in the stability of Egypt’s future."
