Badei Praises Choice of Coptic Christian Rafiq Habib as FJP’s Vice-Presdient

“Thanks to the revolution, this Ramadan the world is witnessing an ironic change of events as viewers worldwide are watching the trial of Mubarak Live on TV as opposed to watching the TV series “The Group” last Ramadanm which was part of gov’t smear campaign against the MB"

With these words the Muslim Brotherhood Chairman Dr. Mohamed Badei addressed guests during a Ramadan Iftar in Sharqeya, which invited a number of Copts. Badie pointed out that while Islam does not condone applauding the ill fate of others, the mere irony of the situation proves that “As you sow, so shall you reap”.

Badie relayed how the group’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) came to choose Coptic intellectual Dr. Rafiq Habib as its VP, describing him as a valued and very much respected member of the party. Badei expressed that Habib was assured regarding the freedom of non-Muslims to follow their own rules and rituals, and it was after these meetings that Habib was elected by the MB Shura Council to be VP of the FJP

Badei praised the solidarity and unity among Egyptians during the revolution where Christian youth had stood guards to protect Muslims as they prayed at Tahrir Square, and vice versa instilling a new spirit in Egyptian souls.

Also speaking at the dinner was newly elected Executive Bureau member, Eng. Abdul Azim Sharqawy who stated that all Egyptians, Christians or Muslims, want change, liberty, and justice, which can only be achieved with unity in order for  Egypt to be rebuild a solid democractic foundation.
